Fully Digital Impressions
iTero Element Systems
The iTero Element Systems is a 3D imaging tool that uses a hand-held wand inside your mouth to scan your jaw and teeth. The images from these scans are far more detailed and accurate than traditional molds, capturing a picture of each tooth and providing a full topographical representation of your mouth. The process of using the iTero scanner is also much more comfortable than using traditional putty molds because they create no mess and only take a few minutes to complete.
The 3D images help our team design custom treatment plans and orthodontic appliances such as Invisalign aligners. We can also use them to predict what your smile will look like during and after treatment.
State-Of-The-Art X-Ray Equipment
Digital X-Rays
Digital X-rays eliminate the need for standard X-ray film by using electronic sensors that externally capture the patient’s mouth and send the images directly to a computer. The process is instantaneous. Like iTero and other digital scanners, digital X-rays capture a fully detailed picture of the mouth, including the patient’s teeth, gums, and tissues, to better identify oral health problems.
Benefits of Digital X-Rays include:
- More effective treatment planning
- Higher level of detail
- Reduced radiation exposure
These advancements reduce radiation exposure in patients by as much as 80 to 90%. The thorough imaging makes it possible to create products like Invisalign that are more exact fitting and expose issues in greater detail, benefiting the dental team and the patients. More detailed images make the process of straightening teeth more efficient.
3D CBCT Scanner
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scanners are another advanced imaging system that provides more detail than standard X-rays. The CBCT scanner uses a cone-shaped beam that is moved around you to take images that are put together to create a complete 3D model of your teeth, bone, nerves, and tissues.
The level of detail achieved with the CBCT scanner gives us more insight into the state of your oral health, which allows us to better tailor a treatment plan to your specific needs. When our team is able to use much more detailed information, we can make better-informed decisions and recommendations when it comes to your orthodontic treatment.
